03/11/2016Check out a amazing school of mobula rays off the coast of Baja, possibly the largest school ever caught on film!
Tens of thousands of mobula rays aggregate off the coast of Baja California every year, offering a stunning display of their massive numbers.
No one knows why they breach but when they do it's spectacular! Ive seen them leaping out of the water and flapping their pectoral fins in the air when i was diving in Malaysia, but never anything like this!
Though it’s hard to tell in this clip, the rays are quite large, likely weighing over a ton and reaching a width of up to 17 feet (5.2 m). This brilliant clip was caught on film for National Geographic’s “Untamed Americas.”
